What is Padel?

Padel is a fun and fast-paced racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash.  It is played on an enclosed court with walls, similar to squash, but with a net in the middle like tennis.  It is usually played in doubles and uses solid, stringless rackets and a low-compression tennis ball.

Padel is played on a smaller court (about one-third the size of a tennis court) with walls that are part of the game, much like squash.  The scoring system is the same as tennis, but serves must be underarm, and the ball can be played off the walls, adding a unique strategic element.

Not at all!  Padel is easy to learn and accessible to all ages and skill levels.  Even if you’ve never played before, you can quickly pick up the basics and start having fun.

You’ll need a Padel racket, which is a solid, perforated bat, and Padel balls, which are similar to tennis balls but slightly less pressurized.  Most clubs, including ours, offer equipment rentals, so you don’t need to buy anything to get started.

Padel follows the same scoring system as tennis: points are counted as 15, 30, 40, and then game.  You must win six games to take a set, and matches are usually best of three sets.

Comfortable sportswear and non-marking trainers with good grip are recommended.  Many players wear tennis-style attire, but there’s no strict dress code.

Yes!  Many clubs, including ours, have match-finding services or social sessions where you can join others looking for partners.  It’s a great way to meet new people and improve your game.
