Our Dads, or father figures, do so much for us. Often, they are in the background making us feel safe, giving advice or mending things, but sometimes we forget just how much they do. We forget that they need to be made to feel special, need to be thanked and spoilt.
Time out together is probably the biggest gift you can give him, but if that is not possible the next best thing would be to treat him to something extra special. Something from the heart. A real treat.
So start by thinking of the things he loves doing and organise it all for him.
Carvery
We know that Dad’s love their food, and Sunday Lunch is usually a favourite, so in honour of all Dad’s, and Father figures, we are putting on a delicious carvery at each resort from 12 noon onwards.
Eating and drinking
Sit, relax, and catch up on all that is happening in your lives over a delicious meal, Afternoon Tea, or coffee and a slice of homemade cake in any one of our lovely resorts. Serving food all day, you could even join us for a breakfast catchup!
We all lead busy lives, and sometimes it’s just not practical to arrange something special on the actual day so why not put a date in the calendar to meet up for an evening drink. With over 100 gins and 100 whiskeys, as well as local beers, there are plenty of options to break the ice and help you relax if needs be.
Walk
Three locations all in the perfect settings for stretching your legs and letting children burn off some energy before, or after, your catchup.
At Ufford Park, Suffolk we have a 2 mile perimeter walk which is ideal for a medium length walk. How many birds can you hear? Each year the RSPB carries out a survey from the trail. Over a three hour period in March 2025 they saw or heard 29 different species of bird including a Kestrel, Woodpeckers (Great Spotted and Green) and Egyptian Geese.
Lion Quays, Shropshire is set on the banks of the Llangollen canal with lovely, meandering paths and lots of peace and quiet. Listen out for the birds, watch the ducks and swans swimming and vote between yourselves for your favourite canal barge.
Langstone Quays, Hampshire, on the north shore of the beautiful Hayling Island, overlooking the water. With a beach not far away, it provides the perfect location to take of your shoes and feel the sand between your toes whilst catching up to the sound of the waves rolling in.
Fun or serious Golf at Ufford Park*
We are very lucky at Ufford Park to have our very own golf course. Set in 120 acres of stunning parkland our 18 hole course is perfect for beginners and professionals. Our two tier driving range has Inrange technology, so whether you are warming up for the game of your life, or wanting to pick up a club for the first time, we have you covered.
For more information on Inrange read our blog “All you need to know about Inrange at Ufford Park” on the Ufford Park website
Ufford Park are also proud to be home to the 18 hole, Congo Rapids Adventure Golf Course. It’s perfect for a bit of fun, relaxation and family bonding no matter how young or old. Watch out for the erupting volcano and the roaring dinosaurs, pull yourself across lagoons on a raft and pass the abandoned temple. Congo Rapids is crazy golf on a large scale.
**Please note on-site golf and Congo Rapids are available at Ufford Park only. There are golf courses close to the other two resorts.
Treatments**
Don’t dismiss this idea!
Many men love a massage, easing the knots, relieving the built stress, relaxing the body. We have treatments and experiences which we are sure your Dad will love. All our therapists are highly trained and will help him relax and get the most from his experience, but if he doesn’t like the idea of a hands-on massage, then the Salt Flotation Tank, Weyron Massage Chairs, Welnamis Bed or Mud Serial will be perfect for him.
**Please note treatments are available at Lion Quays and Ufford Park only
Stay
Just a thought, but why not pick the Resort that you think your Dad will enjoy the most and make his treat a stay over?
All our resorts have a swimming pool and gym which are included in your overnight stay and are child friendly should you wish to share him with your extended family. We even have an overnight stay package with children in mind.
Our Spa Breaks and Golf Breaks are very popular, so make sure you check them out and book soon.
Gift
If you are looking for a gift, then we have that covered too.
Treat him to a voucher for game of golf, treatments, experiences, an overnight stay, a meal out, an afternoon tea, we have it all. The hard part is trying to choose what is special enough for him!
Visit the resort website of your choosing and check out the voucher page.
It’s your Dad’s special time, but it doesn’t necessarily have to happen on Father’s Day. You can plan ahead, make him a ‘voucher’ so he knows what you have organised, or even makeup a few clues, delivered over a period of days and make him guess what you have planned.
Father’s Day can be a difficult time for some people, when fathers are absent or have passed, but if you are lucky enough to still have your Dad in your life, then today is the day to make him feel special.
Whatever you decide, make sure you take the time to think about your Dad and what he likes to do. Check out each of our resorts and whatever you choose give it with love, you could even make it a new family tradition!
