Driving a greener future: LQ Resorts expands EV charging across three hotels

Driving a greener future: LQ Resorts expands EV charging across three hotels

As electric vehicles become an increasingly familiar sight on UK roads, expectations around travel are changing too. Today’s guests are looking for more than comfort, great food and memorable experiences — they also want convenience, sustainability and the confidence that they can travel responsibly.

That’s why LQ Resorts is proud to announce the installation of new electric vehicle charging facilities across three of its hotel destinations, helping support greener travel while making life easier for guests, visitors and local communities alike.

Working in partnership with RAW Charging, one of the UK’s leading hospitality EV charging specialists, LQ Resorts has introduced a total of 22 charging bays across its portfolio:

Ufford Park Hotel, Golf & Spa – 8 charging points

(6 regular, 2 hyper chargers)

Lion Quays Resort – 8 charging points

(6 regular, 2 hyper chargers)

Langstone Quays Resort – 6 charging points

(4 regular, 2 hyper chargers)

The new charging points are open not only to hotel guests, but also to the wider public, making each property an accessible charging destination for drivers travelling through the region.

Supporting Sustainable Travel

The hospitality industry is evolving rapidly, with sustainability becoming a key consideration for travellers when choosing where to stay, dine and relax. Across the UK, the number of electric vehicles continues to grow year on year, and access to reliable charging infrastructure is now an important part of the guest experience.

For LQ Resorts, the investment reflects a broader commitment to responsible hospitality and future-focused operations. By making EV charging more accessible, the group is helping guests reduce their environmental impact without compromising on comfort, convenience or flexibility.

Whether it’s a business traveller stopping overnight, a family enjoying a spa break, golfers spending the day on the course, or local visitors dining in the restaurants, the ability to recharge both vehicle and batteries at the same time is becoming increasingly valuable.

Our hotels are uniquely positioned to support electric vehicle drivers because they naturally offer what the industry refers to as “destination charging” — locations where visitors stay for several hours or overnight.

Unlike motorway charging hubs designed for quick stops, hotel charging works around the guest experience. Visitors can simply plug in on arrival and enjoy dinner, a spa treatment, a round of golf or a relaxing night’s stay while their vehicle charges.

The installation of both regular and hyper chargers across the LQ Resorts portfolio means the facilities cater for a wide range of driver needs.

The regular chargers are ideal for overnight guests or visitors spending a few hours on-site. Depending on the vehicle and battery size, these chargers typically provide a substantial recharge over the course of an evening or extended visit.

The hyperchargers, meanwhile, offer significantly faster charging speeds for drivers who need a quicker top-up. Modern hyper charging technology can often add meaningful driving range in as little as 20–40 minutes, depending on the vehicle being used.

This flexibility ensures the sites are suitable for everything from local visitors to long-distance travellers.

Simple, Accessible and Convenient

Ease of use was another important factor behind the rollout.  The chargers are operated by RAW Charging and are designed to be straightforward and accessible for all EV drivers. Users can simply pay directly at the charger using contactless bank cards, avoiding the need for complicated memberships or subscriptions.

As public charging networks continue to expand across the UK, convenience and reliability have become increasingly important considerations for drivers. RAW Charging has developed a strong reputation within the hospitality sector for delivering user-friendly, dependable charging infrastructure across hotels, leisure destinations and retail sites nationwide.

The company already partners with major hospitality and leisure brands, including Merlin Entertainments, the National Trust and Greene King, helping destinations future-proof their facilities as EV adoption accelerates.

There is also a wider lifestyle benefit. Instead of needing to interrupt journeys to search for charging stations elsewhere, visitors can integrate charging naturally into their stay. A guest enjoying a spa afternoon at Lion Quays, a golf break at Ufford Park or a coastal getaway at Langstone Quays can simply plug in and relax.

For LQ Resorts, the new installations are not simply about adding infrastructure — they represent a long-term investment in sustainability, guest satisfaction and the future of travel.

Whether visitors are arriving for a relaxing weekend, a business trip, a wedding, a round of golf or a spa retreat, they can now do so knowing their destination is helping support a cleaner, more sustainable future.
